OMEA is Turning 100!

In 2019, the Ontario Music Educators’ Association (OMEA) will celebrate its centennial. Founded in 1919 as the Music Section of the Ontario Education Association and reorganized in 1949 as the OMEA, we are the oldest continuing music education association in Canada.

To mark this notable occasion, the OMEA plans to publish, in the Fall of 2019, a special centennial edition of The Recorder which will be provided as a 100th Anniversary gift to all OMEA members; they will receive this in addition to their regular quarterly releases of our journal. This perfect-bound special publication of approximately 200 pages is planned to incorporate various articles of interest related to the historical, pedagogical, and narrative aspects of music education in Ontario.
