Ontario Music Educators’ Association Ontario Music Educators' Association (OMEA). A non-profit organization that represents music educators in Ontario. Its main objective is to "provide leadership in establishing and maintaining high standards of school music throughout Ontario and Canada." It participates in meetings with the Ministry of Education, the Ontario Teachers' Federation Curriculum Forum, and the Ontario College of Teachers. The OMEA provides its members with curriculum resources, and organizes regional workshops and annual conferences. The association has a 21-member board of directors representing a variety of school districts throughout Ontario. The OMEA website is undergoing a redesign. It will be running by September 2010. CONDUCTING OPPORTUNITY AT FUSION 2010: Dr. Colleen Richardson is presenting a workshop on conducting styles and three to four volunteer conductors are needed for this session. Repertoire will be chosen in consultation with Dr. Richardson. Please contact Dr. Richardson at cricha33@uwo.ca prior to October 1st. Below is a session description.
A Conducting Laboratory; Dissecting Different Styles Conducting styles are created by variation in travel/rebound speed, plane amplitude/breadth, and hinge selection. These subtle variations will be outlined and demonstrated with the UWO Wind Ensemble. Following this, pre-selected conductors will conduct the group and receive feedback.
